Some people will only want to live in a Victorian style home while other people would never consider it. While you can built a new home in the contemporary style, many people buy an old Victorian home with the intention of fixing it up.

I know fixing up an old Victorian is an enormous job because I have a family member at the tail end of a what has turned out to be a 10 year reno of a huge 4,000+ square foot Victorian home. Yes, it’s beautiful. Yes, it’s even more beautiful now that it’s done, but it’s also referred to as the never ending money pit.

That said, a nicely renovated Victorian home is something special. Many, especially many of the homes featured in this Victorian home photo gallery, can be considered a work of art. The intricate design and woodwork on some of the homes is truly astonishing.

Further, you can certainly built a new home in a Victorian style; however, most newly built Victorian homes lack the intricate details of the homes built during the Victorian period (1837 to 1901).

As you will see in our gallery of the finest Victorian mansions and houses, there is great diversity in the design. Enjoy the gallery.
