Jennifer Lopez Reportedly Made Over $40 Million Last Year (2024)

Jennifer Lopez is worth a lot. Working in the glittery business of Hollywood and entertainment for decades, Lopez is not only a household name, she also has a jaw-dropping net worth.

Though her exact net worth isn't exactly disclosed to the public, Forbes reported that in 2019, the star made $43 million. The much-cited Celebrity Net Worth website estimates that her assets ring in at about $400 million.

Here, we've rounded up some of the superstar's biggest (and most lucrative) endeavors.

Music

Since her 1999 debut album, On the 6, landed her at the top of Billboard charts, J.Lo has become a staple in the music industry. On the 6 sold 400,000 copies in its first four weeks alone, MTV reported at the time, making it an impressive amount of sales for a newcomer.

Since that humble beginning, her career has produced eight studio albums, two compilation albums, and 63 singles. Further, Billboard reported that J.Lo has sold more than 80 million records worldwide, and 40 million albums.

With great music comes great tours, and Lopez has hosted multiple over the course of her career. Her first tour, 2001's Let's Get Loud, reportedly raked in $765,000. By the time she completed her All I Have tour in 2016, she collectively made nearly $80 million in earnings from all of her tours.

From 2016 to 2018, J.Lo completed her All I Have residency at Las Vegas's Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino. By the time the show was set to end, she had grossed $97.5 million, according to Billboard.

Lopez and Shakira are doing their Super Bowl Half Time Show for free, which performers for the big game often do because the gig gives them so much exposure, according to Forbes. The costs for the production are covered by the NFL.

Acting

J.Lo's role in Hustlers not only earned her multiple nominations during the 2020 awards season, but also plumped up her wallet. Since its 2019 premiere, Hustlers has grossed at least $62 million, tripling its production budget in just 10 days, according to Forbes.

Lopez also worked as one of the movie's producers through her company, Nuyorican Productions. It's unknown exactly how much money she made from Hustlers, but it's probably safe to assume that she earned a decent cut from it.

Of course, this isn't her first acting gig. Other movies under J.Lo's belt include Second Act (2018), The Boy Next Door (2015), The Back-up Plan (2010), and Monster-in-Law (2005). But it was the 1997 biopic Selena based on the late Selena Quintanilla that set her acting career on fire. Her starring role in the film earned her $1 million, according to IMDb.

Producing

Through her production company, Nuyorican Productions, Lopez has earned at least $10 million over the years, according to Money Nation. Some titles you might recognize include TV series like The Fosters and South Beach Tow.

"One of the reasons we started a production company was because there is a lack of roles out there for women like myself—for women period," she told The Hollywood Reporter in 2018.

American Idol

J.Lo joined the reality TV show competition American Idol as a judge in 2011, staying on for four seasons. She ended up making between $12 million and $20 million per season, according to Forbes.

Designing

J.Lo has many different lines and collections billed under her name.

Her first foray into the fashion scene was announced in the late '90s, when she released JLO by Jennifer Lopez, a "sporty chic" womenswear line, People reported at the time. Eventually, the brand came to include swimwear, perfumes, eyewear, accessories, jewelry, lingerie, and shoes. By 2003, the line had sold about $175 million worth of products, according to People. Then in 2010, Pop Sugar reported that she would be selling her Jennifer Lopez collection with Kohl's.

The year 2003 was busy for Lopez. She started Sweetface that year, a spin-off of her original line that came to include more contemporary and high-end products. (However, Sweetface shut down just six years later, according to ELLE.) Then, partnering with the Lancaster Group, Lopez released her perfume Glow by JLo, which raked in $40 million internationally from its release in September of 2003 to the end of the year, People reported.

More recent business endeavors undertaken by Lopez include a footwear partnership with Giuseppe Zanotti and even a makeup line with Inglot Cosmetics.

In other words, don't expect J.Lo's bank account to dry up anytime soon.
