8:00am: Varsity Track and Field State Meet @Wichita State University
SME competed at the KSHSAA Class 6A State Speech and Drama Championship in Garden City May 3rd and 4th. This group has worked extremely hard all season and it’s also impressive and exciting considering how young the squad is. This year’s state team consisted of 1 senior, 4 juniors, 3 sophom*ores, and 5 freshmen. Full season results can be found here.

The Shawnee Mission East Varsity Boys Golf Team finished as the 2024 Runner Up in the overall Sunflower League Standings. The Sunflower League played 2 of 3 rounds as their 3rd round was canceled due to weather.
The Lancers placed 3rd at Prairie Highlands on April 8th with a team score of 302.
The Lancers placed 2nd overall at Lawrence Country Club on April 15th with a team score of 301.
The Lancers finished 2nd overall in the standings with a team score of 603.
Elliott Cowden was the overall individual champion with a score of 143. The Lancers had 4 individuals finish in the top 20.
Stuart Boulware placed 10th with a score of 151.
Wylie Curtis placed 12th with a score of 152.
Hudson Bennish placed 16th overall with a score of 157.
Congratulations to the Lancers on their 2024 Sunflower League Runner Up finish!

SME completed the regular season for forensics this past weekend. Please congratulate any of these students if you know them or have them in class! The Forensics program still has a few post-season tournaments such as state and nationals, but in the meantime, here are some highlights from our season:

The Shawnee Mission East Athletic Department is extremely excited to announce Jordyn Johnson as the our new Head Volleyball Coach pending board approval. Jordyn comes to East from Mill Valley High School where she spent the last two volleyball seasons as the Jaguar’s Varsity Assistant Coach. During her 2 years at Mill Valley they won a State Championship and also placed 4th at State. They won 2 Sub State Championships and won the Sunflower League once. Jordyn is currently teaching social students at Monticello Trails Middle School within the Unified 232 School District.
Jordyn’s college experiences included playing volleyball at Ottawa University and then continuing her education at Kansas State University where she earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Education.
Jordyn also won a State Championship at Sante Fe Trail High School during her time as a high school volleyball player.
A player and parent Meet and Greet has been scheduled for Wednesday, May 8th at 7:30pm in the SME Main Gym (South Bleachers).
We are excited for Jordyn to lead our volleyball program and bring her championship experiences to East!
